Nicole Taylor of Hot Grease, an online radio show at HeritageRadioNetwork.com, organized a “Donut Crawl” on Saturday, March 19th, 2011. The event started at Dough on 305 Franklin Avenue in Brooklyn. I’ve had their hibiscus donuts, and they are quite delicious.
Later, I would meet the group at Donut Plant in the Lower East Side of NYC. My favorite flavors were Pistachio and Orange. Next, we walked over to a vegan bakery, BabyCakes, to try their Salted Caramel donut. The cupcakes were quite tempting, too.Temporarily taking a sugar break, a small breakout group walked around the corner to Vanessa’s Dumpling House. I tried Jackie‘s sandwich stuffed with slices of duck and house-made kimchi between fluffy sesame seed bread. My steamed basil and chicken dumplings were flavorful, too. Later, I would rejoin Nicole’s group at Traif in Brooklyn for brunch. The dessert was a donut with crumbled bacon served with a scoop of coffee ice cream. At least 20 people participated in Nicole’s Donut Crawl event. To see reviews of each donut place, visit Twitter #DiscoverDonuts. We’re all anxiously awaiting for Nicole’s next appetizing event.
