Turmeric Mango Smoothie

A trendy, uber healthy ingredient with a long list of benefits, turmeric has a similar taste to ginger, but it’s not ginger. As a popular Indian spice, it pairs with sweet mango for a smoothie with a flavorful kick.

Fresh Turmeric

#SmoothieNumbers 26: Turmeric Mango

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp finely grated fresh turmeric
  • 1 cup frozen mango chunks
  • 1 tsp honey; more or less to taste
  • 1 cup litchi or mango juice; more or less
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened vanilla dairy or coconut almond milk yogurt
  • Optional 1 tsp. ground flax seeds

Directions

  1. Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth.
  2. Enjoy.

    You my dear deserve an award for your adventurous nature. Turmeric has so many healing properties and I have been told countless times to drink it to combat pain but I have been very scared to try. This might just be the recipe that moves me! Thanks for sharing!

    Hi, Angie! I haven’t tried making this smoothie with ground turmeric, but could make a great substitute. Start with a quarter teaspoon, and slowly increase the amount to your personal taste.

    Hi Sanura! This smoothie recipe looks terrific, and I’m anxious to try it because I’ve read that turmeric is a good anti-inflammatory. But I was wondering two things: first, may dry turmeric powder be used? And if not, is fresh turmeric available in health food stores?
